Margarets Meen Vodka - New Release!

(August 2007)

And now for something completely different!

We all know what Vodka is but what is Meen?  Meen (Bloodroot) is a plant only found on the South West Coast of Western Australia.  Related to the Kangaroo Paw Meen produces a distinctive flower spike from an edible fleshy bulb.  By slicing the bulb and pickling in spirit a vibrant red extract is created which has a HOT taste similar to pepper or curry powder.  We have worked with researchers at the Department of Agriculture to develop a way to infuse this unique botancial into our vodka .

What we are creating is new and unique but follows a long traditonal practice. While many vodkas are unflavoured a wide variety of flavoured vodkas have long been produced in traditional vodka markets, somtimes these claim to be for medicinal purposes (yeah right!). Flavourings include red pepper, ginger and various fruit and herb flavours.

Pepper Vodka has always been a favourite with afficionados, so in line with our commitment to producing top class spirits from local ingredients we are now pleased to offer you Meen Vodka, a orange-red Vodka with a "mean" spicy taste.
